My workplace in Cheonan...

I am currently teaching in a town called Cheonan, with roughly about half a million people. Seoul is about 1 hour away by bus, and 2 hours by subway. Its also connected to the rest of Korea via KTX(bullet train), which makes a trip to Seoul only 30 minutes, travelling at 330 km/h! I teach at E-Bo-Young Talking Club, in Mokcheon, one of the suburbs in the city. I am the only foreigner at my workplace, with my director who is speaking English very well, as well as 3 Korean teachers. All of them can speak English very well, since most of them had been staying in the US for some time.

Teaching here has not always been easy, especially regarding the accent! I come from a country where the British accent, is the one used, and despite being fluent in English, I struggled adjusting, but 8 months later, I have the accent, whether I like it or not! To continue speaking English everyday, greatly improved my English, and you can't even hear my Afrikaans accent anymore.

The children at my work are really loving, and so cute, and I enjoy every minute with them. They sometimes don't understand me, as I have been the first foreigner to teach at my academy, so getting used to me, really took time to get understand me. For the Korean teacher, its easy, because sometimes you need to tell the students something in Korean, and with me lacking that skill, its something a little frustrating, but still an enjoyable experience so far.
